Basically, I was fired because the owner didn't know what he was doing and didn't want to be told to do the right thing. It was a rough ride. I think I learned from it... maybe.
Moving furniture tided me over between that last gig and my current place of employ. I did grunt work. Drove around, picked furniture up, drove around, brought it back to the warehouse... pretty menial stuff. Of all my jobs over the last decade, that one is my favorite. Had the best boss of the bunch. Good, reasonable hours. Just didn't pay the bills and there wasn't much upward mobility. Still, I'd do that job full-time in a flash if it did pay all the bills. Not that my current gig pays all the bills. It doesn't, which is very frustrating, but at least I'm able to cover the big stuff consistently.
Everything amounts to seasons. I wrote about it another way HERE. But really, seasons covers more because even within the part of the relationship that pertains to "routines," there are springs, summers, falls, and winters. Those seasons may be between the Chef and owner, the restaurant and customers, the front of the house and the back of the house. They are one and the same, really. An integrated system.
I'll write about that at another time.
In other news, JG's Pantry is going to have a dual focus. One side of the 'fork' will be food storage/preparedness and related. I've got a few posts on that type stuff here HERE here and here. Yes, each of those links to a different post. The other side will be special dietary needs... you know, like gluten free, dairy free, Raw, and etc. I haven't posted about that much, but we have some pretty extensive experience with it in my household. So, I'll be sharing from my own experience and the experimentation of my wife who has won awards for her gluten free baking. She's got more awards for baking that me!
Let me know what you'd like to read about the most.
Here and there I will also lightly season this space with personal stuff. You know... because I know you want to know me better because I'm JG, which I'm not sure if you know... that stands for Jessie the Great. That's me.
Eat Well,
J.G.
